Bone Density (DEXA) Scan Video

A dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) scan is used to measure bone density loss in the spine as a test for osteoporosis. This test is done to assess how vulnerable a patient is to compression fractures and to help determine the proper treatment program to avoid those injuries, which may include osteoporosis medications or changes in the patient's diet.

This video accompanies the article: Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (Dexa scan).
