A significant part of advancing total health is ensuring the health not just of individuals, but also of communities. For Kaiser Permanente, improving the health of the communities it serves is part of its mission.
KP’s recently released annual report – designed to be viewed on both desktops and mobile devices – shares profiles and stories of its work toward improving the health of its members as well as promoting community health. A few of the highlights:
- Community health initiatives that take a prevention-focused approach to health, like hosting farmers markets outside medical centers
- Sparking community conversations around health, such as the discussions built around the Emmy-nominated Weight of the Nation documentary series and public awareness campaign, the Every Body Walk! campaign, and KP’s innovative Educational Theatre Program for school-age kids
- Providing high-quality, affordable health care not just now, but in the future, through investments in health research, sustainability and green building, and investigating, testing and sharing best practices at the Garfield Innovation Center
The annual report has some impressive stats by the numbers. You can check out the At-a-Glance version of the report – and more on the topics touched on above – here.
